About

Welcome to HauteThought, a blog with a focus on lifestyle, travel, music, fashion, occasional musings on life and whatever else may be top of mind. Also featured: sarcasm.

Now, the dreaded “about me.” If there’s one thing I hate to write, it’s about me sections. I’ll try to make this quick and painless for you, and not extremely awkward for me.

Music and fashion have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Both sides of my family have musical roots and I was quick to embrace them through piano, voice and grabbing every cassette or CD I could convince my parents to let me get my hands on. As for fashion, my mom forced me to start accessorizing at the tender age of 3. My sister and I were forced to wear headbands that matched our colored socks that somehow tied into an accent color on our outfits. I have pictures, but I’ll spare you. Sweat pants were not allowed and I still feel uncomfortable going out in public in something less casual than jeans. Thanks a lot for forcing me to at least pretend like I have myself together, mom.

In 2010, I graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Journalism-News Editorial. I chose this major with hopes of breaking into the entertainment industry as a music publicist. I visited colleges with music programs and naturally I chose Illinois, the only school I visited that didn’t have a music business program.

While I have yet to reach music publicist status, my dream job still remains the same. The fast paced lifestyle and ability to discover new music at work each day is truly my calling. The hope of snagging this job is what led me to blogging. After interning with the music critic at the Chicago Tribune, I was given the following advice nearly every time we met: start a blog and write about music. And so, HauteThought was born.

That being said, click around and stay awhile. Once again, thanks for stopping by, and feel free to leave comments below or shoot me an e-mail with any questions, suggestions or media inquiries. In fact, I encourage it!

Over and out,

–Annie

  1. Annie –

Loved your post on Tony Lucca. Are you also a fan of Ernie Halter? Would love to get you a copy of his latest for review. We have a bunch more artists that I think you would enjoy as well. Send me an email and I’d be happy to send you more music to review!

    • Miss Annie, I am so impressed with your blog!! Because I have been living under a rock, this is the first time I happened upon it. It will be the first of many visits in the future.
